The success of Special Dollivery wouldn’t be possible without our amazing team.

I am the mother of five amazing and accomplished children and the grandmother to the most awesome grandsons in the world. My mother taught me the most valuable of life lessons. When I was sad and feeling sorry for myself she would tell me to get out and do something great for someone else and I would feel better. That advice taught me that true happiness really comes not from focusing on your own feelings but in losing yourself in the desire to create happiness in the life of another. That has been the catalyst for my involvement in this project. Dolls are a powerful tool in the hands of a child. Through doll play children can imagine their biggest dreams and best possible futures. I believe that if a child can dream something, they can do it. It is an honor to be able to deliver these dreams to the children in our community.

I was 4 years old in the middle of WWII. We were poor and I had one little naked doll. My grandmother said she would make her some clothes. My anticipation soared but at the end of the day I felt devastated! Only one outfit: a diaper, vest and hat made from an old dishcloth. I promised myself at that moment that when I was able to gift a doll to a little girl it would come with several sets of clothes for her to play with. That time is now!!!
The years passed: family, children, teaching and finally retirement. Those years were also filled with attaining a Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral degrees in Education. I taught for 20 years in a variety of positions including 3 universities. My favorite position was as a Reading Specialist…those children needed such help emotionally because they were always looked on as the underdog. I also supported my husband’s career as a Judge and a Navy Captain. Now I am a caregiver for him as we walk together through these golden years of our lives dealing with Alzeheimer’s and strokes. After 54 years of marriage our love is stronger and we thank God for our many, many blessings.

I’m an educator with a solid belief in the power of hands-on, experiential learning. In my day job, I manage a makerspace and work on solutions to make STEM education part of every community. In my free time, I love using technology to learn new things and make COOL stuff! Special Dollivery is important to me because youth thrive when they’re able to use their imaginations, and interacting with a doll allows youth to explore their feelings, try new things, andDREAM BIG!

I am the mother of 6 children and have now graduated to not just a grandma, but a great grandma! A doll lover myself, I love the idea of blessing the lives of children in need with the very thing that helped me through some of the toughest times of my own life.

I love a good project and I support Special Dollivery because it brings joy to children who live in difficult situations. Each doll kit provides endless hours of imaginative play.
I am a mother of five and a middle school teacher. My hobbies include hiking, reading, eating chocolate, and sewing. I love it when people donate their (grandma’s) fabric stashes to me because I use my creativity and my industrial sewing machine to turn it into good for others! Through the years I have sewn for Days for Girls, Stitching Hearts, and LDS Charities.
I truly believe that your own problems seem smaller when you’re serving others. We can model this principle for young people and they will have good feelings as they donate their used dolls or participate in Special Dollivery packing parties. This project has the power to impact both the children who receive dolls and the young people who learn that they feel happy when helping others.
I encourage you to participate in this amazing project! I am happy to coordinate donations in Utah Valley, Heber Valley, or Park City.

I’m 81 years and have enjoyed sewing all my life. I’m a mother of five great kids and tons of grand babies. I love making doll clothes for children to enjoy. Working with Susan has been a blessing.
For years I worked with government contracts for the Air Force and really enjoyed that time but now I’m retired and need to stay busy. Since I lost my husband I travel between my children with my sewing machine and fabric. I’m living a strange life now but enjoying it.
Praying God will give me more years to sew for the precious children and hope my efforts make them smile.
